Our Chelas (Beer)

Chela is a slang word for ‘beer.’ View our full menu of chelas here, including our flagship chelas that are always on tap and our seasonal beers. Take home 22 oz. bomber of select beers, and 32 oz. crowler cans are also available for purchase.

Part of what makes Cheluna beer so good is, of course, our beer recipes, which have been refined and practiced for almost 30 years with great attention to detail.

The other part of what makes our beer so good is that Javi, our founding brewer and ER physician, brings the sterile work habits from his medical practice to the Cheluna brewhouse, insisting on very strict standards of super-clean + sanitary beer production. All of our beer is made on-site – take a peek through the windows behind our bar!

We hope that you enjoy your Cheluna ‘chela’ (or beer), and can taste the love, patience, and dedication that goes into every keg, glass, and bottle. We do not release a beer before its time! #chelunalove

Lowrider Mexican Lager

ABV 4.5%

This easy drinking, medium bodied lager is halfway between a light lager and a copper; it’s palate pleasing, smooth and well-balanced. We offer Low Rider with a wedge of lime, and also a Tajín rim (Chile con sal), upon request. It’s plenty delicious all on its own, también! Every weekend we make from scratch our own Michelada mix, and you can order your Low Rider Michelada Saturdays and Sundays.

Lupita IPA

ABV 6.5%

Centennial, Grüngeist, and Mandarina hops give this much loved chela a floral, juicy aroma that makes this beer one that even IPA skeptics request! Lupita is our take on a New England style IPA, only ours is crystal clear.

Coco Xoco Porter

ABV 7%

This medium bodied porter was inspired by a Mexican sweet called a cocada, which is similar to a macaroon. Kilos of cacao, coconut and vanilla round out this delicious and fragrant chela, which has a very loyal following. Balanced and highly enjoyable!

Chilango Mango Habanero Hefeweizen

ABV 5%

Mango con Chile is a super popular treat in México, and we’ve translated that concept into a refreshing hefeweizen that is so delicious it’s almost addictive! Aromatic mango nose, and a gentle warmth that kisses the back of the throat. This beer is awesome with a Tajín rim and a wedge of lime, también.

Orizaba Cold IPA

ABV 6.6%

A lagered, medium-light bodied Cold IPA brewed with Southern Hemisphere hops (Galaxy, Rakau) and experimental HBC 586 hops. Light, dry and crispy finish with a big hop profile. Silver medal winner of the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).

Luna Nueva Export Lager

ABV 5.6%

Brewed in collaboration with our amigos at Prost Brewing Company. Luna Nueva (new moon) is a bohemian export lager made with German bohemian pilsner malt, flaked Maize, and Czech Saaz hops. Light and crisp. Gold medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
